Improving Information Literacy Skills for Psychology Majors: The Development of a Case Study Technique

This article describes the development of a faculty–librarian collaborative project that integrated discipline-specific information literacy into an upper-level psychology class. The instruction involved a case study technique in order to increase student engagement in a content area while helping students gain needed information literacy skills that meet professional guidelines. We found that employing this approach enhanced instructor ability to more fully and meaningfully engage with students within a more comfortable classroom atmosphere. This method may be easily adapted to other disciplines as it allows for much creativity and selection of course-relevant themes.     

Envisioning the Academic Library: A Reflection on Roles,Relevancy and Relationships

The focus of this article is to reflect on current and near future issues and trends concerning academic libraries. This includes an overview of the literature on embedded librarianship and a focus on the need for more participatory and collaborative approaches to library services.

The core argument is that academic libraries need to continue to adapt their roles and develop stronger relationships across the university in order to maintain and promote their relevancy to all stakeholders. Embedded roles in research and teaching, and an embedded existence through collaboration and outreach will strengthen the academic library's presence within its parent institution.     

Identifying and Exploring Future Trends Impacting on Academic Libraries: A Mixed Methodology Using Journal Content Analysis,Focus Groups,and Trend Reports

This article compares three sources of information about academic libraries to consider what the future could hold and the skills needed to deliver effective services within that future. The starting point is the contents of New Review of Academic Librarianship (formerly British Journal of Academic Librarianship) from 1986, which are examined thematically and used to conduct focus groups with academic librarians from those in first posts to international library leaders. Recent major trend spotting reports and articles are also examined and compared. Thus, a retrospective analysis of published literature plus the current concerns of working librarians and future trend spotting reports are brought together to see whether any trends for the future emerge. The skills needed to develop relevant services in these new contexts are identified and there is some consideration of how new roles could affect existing library teams. Gaps in the journal coverage and areas for possible future articles are identified.

移动网络团购APP信息采纳行为影响因素研究——基于信息生态视角的分析

[目的/意义]移动互联网环境下的网络团购是电子商务发展中出现的新的产业形态,研究移动网络团购APP信息采纳行为对推动移动信息消费具有积极的作用.[方法/过程]基于信息生态视角建立移动网络团购APP信息采纳行为概念模型,运用问卷调查和结构方程的实证研究方法对模型的适用性进行检验.[结果/结论]数据结果表明,信息人是移动网络团购APP信息采纳行为模型中的关键影响因素,信息、信息技术、信息环境对移动团购APP信息采纳态度均产生正向影响,信息采纳态度对信息采纳行为产生正向影响.本研究对更好地了解移动环境下用户信息消费行为并有针对性地开发APP软件具有一定的参考价值.     

Collaboration and Competition in Special Libraries

Librarianship has a long tradition of collaboration and cooperation between libraries, but the literature yields scant evidence of formal partnerships in practice in special libraries. This column explores the barriers to collaboration for special libraries, from organizational culture to legal constraints, as well as the potential benefits and how librarians can overcome the barriers to reap these benefits. Different types of collaboration, including among similar special libraries and between special libraries and other types of libraries and related organizations, as well as informal and formal cooperation, and short-term and long-term partnerships, are discussed. Collaboration and cooperation were part of the impetus to form professional associations. The column provides a brief history of professional library associations and their role in supporting library partnerships in the United States. The conclusion explores how the increasingly digital nature of information and library work affects collaborative library efforts and where the future of these efforts may lie, especially for special libraries.     

Folksonomy模式中的知识群落及其核心知识分析

[目的/意义] Folksonomy知识组织模式中的标签呈现离散混沌的社群知识标注状态,对知识群落进行构建和分析能够揭示出知识之间潜在的关联和核心知识。[方法/过程] 采用复杂网络分析的理论和方法识别和构建社群知识网络中的知识群落,并对群落结构以及群落核心知识的伴生关联进行分析。[结果/结论] 从知识网络的视角提取并分析Folksonomy模式中网状结构下知识群落嵌套的层级结构,并对知识群落中的核心知识以及知识的伴生性进行揭示。     

网络舆情观点提取的LDA主题模型方法

[目的/意义]无处不在的网络舆情信息深深影响甚至误导网络受众,探讨揭示网络舆情观点的方法,旨在拓展用户的认知深度和广度,提高大众对舆论的辨识能力。[方法/过程]从技术上对比分析观点提取方法间的差异,从认知上阐释网络舆论平台的群体智慧和受众个体的认知过程,进而明确LDA主题模型提取舆情观点的优势及路径。[结果/结论]结合舆论主题和情感因素,基于LDA的网络舆情观点提取,可从海量评论中判定深度评论,摘取主要观点,借助群众智慧,有效拓展个体思想和认知,为从大规模舆情中有序呈现受众观点提供新路径,也为舆情监测与疏导提供切实的依据。     

Shifting the Perspective of the Research Librarian: A CoResearch Paradigm

This article proposes the coresearch engagement model (CoRE), which addresses how the academic research librarian can become a coresearch partner with any patron. The CoRE model is an interpersonal process and is founded upon the concepts of mutual respect, collaboration, reciprocity, and empowerment. Grounded in Howard Gardner’s multiple intelligences theory, Malcolm Knowles’ andragogical model, and guidelines from the Reference and User Services Association, CoRE has the potential to result in engagement for the librarian and patron. The CoRE model can be utilized in many ways including self-awareness and development for those who need and want to expand their abilities as a research librarian. It provides a theoretical framework and a knowledge base, in addition to giving a context for further development by expanding, comparing the related theories for further research, and implementing various applications suggested by this article.
